Have you ever heard about Dejima? It is a small island in Nagasaki city, and was only open to the foreign countries (especially Netherland) in Edo-period, when Japan was closed to the world.
Using the metapher of Dejima, now there are so many teams called “Dejima team” in Japan. They are small teams which are set having a little distance from main team, to have a freedom for innovations.
We were in that kind of team for long years by ourselves, and liked the way so much. So we made research & interviews to other Dejima teams all over Japan and completed to a book.
